UPDATE 10/14/13 @ 10:14 a.m.
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A husband is facing nearly 20 years in prison after admitting to killing his wife.

Bruce Dillon, 52, of Aflex, pleaded guilty Friday to 1st degree manslaughter in the death of his wife, Sherry Dillon.

He was arrested last August after his wife's body was found buried on their property.

Sherry Dillon had been missing for a month before her body was found. Ron Burchett, Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Pike County, tells WSAZ.com that a cause of death was never determined, and they may never know how Sherry died.

A neighbor told our sister station, WKYT, that he saw Dillon consistently digging dirt in his yard and that's when they called police.

Bruce Dillon was originally charged with murder in the case.

The Commonwealth Attorney's Office has suggested a 19-year prison sentence when Bruce Dillon is sentenced later this year.

UPDATE 8/13/12 @ 6:20 p.m.
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The man who Kentucky State Police say killed a woman and buried her body in his yard says he didn't do it.

Bruce Dillon, 52, of Aflex, Ky., entered a not guilty plea Monday morning to charges of murder and abuse of a corpse.

Chief Assistant Pike County Attorney Tommy Chamberlin says cases like this are rare.

"A case of this magnitude is luckily not that common, but sadly occurs every so often in our rural county," Chamberlin said. "Obviously something of this magnitude we take with the utmost seriousness because, obviously anytime you're dealing with the loss of someone's life, as a prosecutor there's nothing more important than that."

Dillon is expected to be in court again Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

He is being held without bond at the Pike County Detention Center.
