UPDATE 9/6/12
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man accused of killing a woman and burying her body in his yard has been indicted.

The Pike County Circuit Clerk's Office tells WSAZ.com that Bruce Dillon, 52, of Aflex, Kentucky was indicted on one count of murder when the grand jury met in late August.

Dillon's wife Sherry was last seen in mid-July. She was reported missing a couple of weeks later by family members. Kentucky State Police have not confirmed with WSAZ that the body found in the Dillon's backyard was Sherry.

A pretrial hearing for Dillon is scheduled for November.

UPDATE 8/13/12 @ 6:20 p.m.
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The man who Kentucky State Police say killed a woman and buried her body in his yard says he didn't do it.

Bruce Dillon, 52, of Aflex, Ky., entered a not guilty plea Monday morning to charges of murder and abuse of a corpse.

Chief Assistant Pike County Attorney Tommy Chamberlin says cases like this are rare.

"A case of this magnitude is luckily not that common, but sadly occurs every so often in our rural county," Chamberlin said. "Obviously something of this magnitude we take with the utmost seriousness because, obviously anytime you're dealing with the loss of someone's life, as a prosecutor there's nothing more important than that."

Dillon is expected to be in court again Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

He is being held without bond at the Pike County Detention Center.

UPDATE 8/13/12 @ 8:45 a.m.
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The husband of a Pike County woman, who was reported missing for more than a month, has been charged with murder.

Bruce Dillon, 52, of Aflex, Ky., was booked into the Pike County Detention Center Friday night.

Dillon is charged with one count of murder and one count of abuse of a corpse, according to jail records. KSP has not released any details of the arrest.

Kentucky State Police say that on Friday night they conducted a search of Dillon’s property, where they unearthed a container containing the remains of an unidentified female.

The body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy and positive identification.

This is the same area where Sherry Dillon, 44, was last seen back in early July.

KSP says that on July 16 they were contacted by Dillon’s family.

Her family says she was last seen at her residence on July 7.

Troopers issued a missing person’s alert on August 3.

A neighbor told our sister station, WKYT, that he saw Dillon consistently digging dirt in his yard and that's when they called police.

Dillon is expected to be arraigned in Pike County District Court Monday morning.
