UPDATE 3/4/13 at 5:29 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man faces several felony charges after not only running from the police, but also trying to run them over.

Police say it started when Mark Kennedy grabbed a woman by the arm and threw her into a glass door at the Chesapeake Medical Center. He then tried to flee; in the process, he twice unsuccessfully attempted to hit a Charleston police officer with his truck.

He eventually made his way onto I-64 westbound and a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alert was issued for his truck before West Virginia State Police stopped him between the South Charleston and Dunbar exits.

"We had troopers who were already on the interstate that pulled off the side of the interstate and waited for the vehicle to pass by," West Virginia State Police Sgt. Michael Baylous said. "They identified it, and they pulled it over."

But the struggle didn’t end after Kennedy was pulled over, as he initially refused to get out of his car. When he finally did, troopers made a discovery.

"They were able to have a successful traffic stop, take him into custody and that's when they discovered that he had marijuana in his possession," Baylous said.

In addition to the drugs, Kennedy also had a number of knives on him.

Now, Kennedy sits in jail facing a laundry list of charges including possession with intent to deliver, fleeing with reckless indifference, destruction of property, battery and assault on an officer.

His bond was set at $75,000.
