Police Chase Ends with Crash in West Portsmouth, Ohio

A police chase in West Portsmouth ended Monday night with the driver crashing and being taken to the hospital.

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A police chase in West Portsmouth ended Monday night with the driver crashing and being taken to the hospital.

Ohio Highway Patrol Officers pulled over the car on U.S. 52 about 9:30 p.m. Monday. As the trooper approached the car, the driver sped away, turned onto Careys-Run Pond Creek Road and crashed into a utility pole.

Troopers say the driver was ejected in the crash. He was flown to a Huntington hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the car was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

OHP dispatchers say charges are pending against the driver.
