UPDATE: Names Released in Route 10 Fatal Crash

UPDATE 7/17/14 @ 11:30 p.m.
LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Speed may have been a factor in a crash that killed three people on Route 10 just outside of Chapmanville.

According to a news release from the Logan County Sheriff's Department, Eddie Mullins was heading north on Route 10 Thursday morning when his vehicle crossed the center line into the path of another car.

The driver of that vehicle was able to move out of the way, but hit a guardrail. This vehicle did not make contact with Mullins' car.

Deputies say Mullins' continued in the southbound lane and hit Dewanna Dalton's truck head-on.

Mullins, 27, of Chapmanville, was pronounced dead at the scene along with his passenger Terry Fowler, who is 39 years-old and also from Chapmanville.

The other passenger is believed to be Michael Johnson from Harts who is 38-years-old. Investigators say they were not able to make a positive identification on-scene. The medical examiner took his body to make a positive identification.

“Speed may have played a factor into this crash according to deputies.” Sheriff Sonya M. Dingess Porter said.

Dalton, the driver of the truck, was flown to a hospital in Charleston. Her injuries appear to be serious, deputies say. Dalton is 45 and from Harts.

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people have died in a crash in Logan County.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. along Route 10 in Chapmanville. Deputies say two cars collided, killing three people.

Neighbors say the stretch of road is extremely dangerous. Sara Collins is one of them. She says, "we heard a boom and I instantly knew what it was because it's happened quite a bit. So we called 911 and a few neighbors ran over there." Collins and others are hoping people will take this as a lesson to slow down.

Deputies say they're out in full force, catching people speeding and have increased their DUI patrol in the area.

Investigators are still working to determine exactly what caused the crash. The driver and two passengers in a car were killed. The driver of the pick-up truck was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

The names of the victims aren't being released.

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people have died in a crash in Logan County.

Two vehicles were involved in the fatal crash. Logan County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com the driver and two passengers in the car were killed. The driver of the white truck was flown to a hospital. The driver is in serious condition, according to deputies.

Route 10 is still closed in both directions near Chapmanville. Emergency crews say the road is expected to be closed for another two hours.

No word on what caused the crash.
