UPDATE: Mother and Daughter Killed in Crash in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia state Police say a mother and her daughter were killed in a car crash in Lincoln County.

Rebecca May and her nine-year-old daughter MacKenzie Haynes were travelling on Route 34 near the Putnam County line late Monday night or early Tuesday morning when May lost control of the car, according to WVSP. The car went over a hill and landed in a creek.

LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people were killed in a car crash along Route 34 in Lincoln County.

West Virginia State Police say the accident happened sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

The car was found in a creek near the Lincoln-Putnam county line.

The names of the people killed in the accident are not being released until the family is notified.

ORIGINAL STORYLINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Crews are on the scene of a fatal accident on Route 34 in Lincoln County.

West Virginia State Police say the car was found in a creek near the Lincoln-Putnam County line. Troopers believe the crash happened sometime Tuesday morning.

WVSP tell WSAZ.com that at least one person was killed in the accident.

No other details are being released right now.
