WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Prichard has been killed in a crash along the Tolsia Highway (U.S. 52) in Wayne County Thursday morning.

Wayne County Sheriff Deputies tell WSAZ.com that 65-year-old Garry Smith died in the accident

The crash happened near the end of the four-lane in Prichard. It was reported just before 9 a.m.

Deputies say Smith was pulling onto the highway from Centerville Road when his pickup was hit by a truck hauling asphalt.

Both vehicles ended up off the road in a grassy area.

Firefighters had to help get the driver out of the dump truck. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes.

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One person has been killed in an accident along the Tolsia Highway (U.S. 52) in Wayne County Thursday morning.

Our crew on the scene says the crash involves a large truck and a pickup.

The crash is near the end of the 4-lane in Prichard. It was reported just before 9 a.m.

The driver of the pickup was killed. No word on other injuries.

Both vehicles are off the road in a grassy area.

One southbound lane of the highway remains closed in the area of the crash.
