UPDATE 1/31/12 @ 11:55 a.m.
GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A pilot of a single engine plane was not hurt after making a crash landing at the Ashland Regional Airport near Worthington, Ky. Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported just after 10 a.m. A number of emergency crews were sent to the airport after getting word of a crash.
The pilot, Marvin Warner, tells WSAZ.com, he had a person interested in buying the plane and he was taking a final flight to make sure everything was working okay when the front landing gear would not come down.
As a result, Warner says he was forced to land in the grass next to the runway. Warner was not hurt, but the plane’s propeller was damaged. Warner believes a hydraulic problem caused the landing gear issue.
Warner says even after the incident, he still has potential buyer for the two-seat plane he bought back in 1995.
The incident was reported about 10:10 Tuesday morning.
Dispatchers say the pilot of the single-engine plane was not injured.
We have a crew headed to the scene.
