UPDATE: Name Released of Victim Found in Ohio River

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The name of the man whose body was found Sunday night in the Ohio River at Harris Riverfront Park has been released.

He is identified as Michael Kelley Byrom, 42, of Kanawha County, West Virginia, according to information from Huntington Police. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Byrom was identified using fingerprints obtained by the HPD Forensic Unit.

Based on early evidence, there is no sign of foul play in Byrom's death.

Police say Byrom was listed as a suspect in a vehicle reported stolen from Charleston on Friday evening. That vehicle was recovered in the area of Harris Riverfront Park on Saturday.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It was a startling discovery Sunday night for visitors at Huntington's Harris Riverfront Park.

Police confirmed a man's body was found floating in the Ohio River.

People walking along Harris Riverfront Park first noticed the body just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday. One of them called 911.

The man's body was found floating face down in the river.

Tucker McCormick was at Harris Riverfront Park when the body was discovered, "I was just down here walking, messing with the ducks, chasing them when some guy yelled dead body. So I ran over and he was floating there."

Officers say there was no I-D with the body.

Once police documented the scene, the coroner removed the body.

It'll be taken to the state medical examiner's office to find the cause of death and possibly get an identification.
