BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A 33-year-old Boyd County man died earlier this month after complications from the flu, his family said.
Tyler Preston, 33, died Jan. 17 after battling the flu for several days. His father, Jeff Preston, said complications with Tyler's breathing escalated in the hours before his death.
Although Tyler did not get a flu vaccine this year, his family is encouraging everyone to get vaccinated. King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland has set up a vaccine clinic Friday afternoon at Fairview High School in Tyler's memory.
"You don't expect someone 33 years old to get sick and die of the flu," Jeff Preston said. "But he was more sick than he realized. I just want people to remember Tyler's smile and his caring, caring personality. He had a heart as big as a bucket and would have given anybody anything he had."
Preston was a graduate of Fairview High School and Devry University. In recent years, he had joined the family business as a funeral director at Preston Funeral Home in Ashland.
