UPDATE: Victim's Name Released in Fatal House Fire

MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The name of a man killed in an early morning house fire in Milton has been released.

According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Twitter account, 75-year-old Frank Linville died in the blaze.

Linville's wife was able to make it out of the home.

Neighbors say they saw flames shooting from the roof of the home when crews arrived on scene a little after 4 a.m. Monday.

According to Brent Taylor there were two working smoke detectors in the home.

State Fire Marshal Reed Cook said the couple was in the bedroom. Mr. Linville went towards the fire and was overcome with smoke. His wife was able to escape through a back door.

Chief Taylor says a family pet, a cat, also died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown but it is not being considered suspicious.

Investigators with the West Virginia State Fire Marshals Office are taking a closer look.

MILTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- An elderly man has died in an early morning house fire in Milton.

The Milton Fire Chief confirms to WSAZ.com the man died in a fire at a home on Dry Ridge Rd. The elderly man's wife was able to get out of the home.

Emergency dispatchers received the call about 4:06 a.m. Monday.

MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Firefighters are battling a house fire on Dry Ridge Road in Milton.

Emergency dispatchers received the call about 4:06 a.m. Monday.

A dispatcher told WSAZ.com that one person is unaccounted for at this time.

It's not yet been determined whether the person was home at the time of the fire.
