Brothers Sentenced to Federal Prison in Case of Stolen Gun

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Brothers are headed to federal prison for illegally having a firearm.

David, 27, and Jesse Burgess, 26, who are both from Charleston, were each sentenced to 21 months behind bars.

The brothers, who were convicted felons, and not legally allowed to have a gun, admitted stealing a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in September of 2012 from Pawn for Cash.

David admitted to stealing the gun and having it in his possession. Jesse admitted to helping his brother steal the weapon.

The case was brought to court as a part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods, which is a national initiative to reduce gun crimes in the United States.
