UPDATE 2/6/12 @ 11:40 p.m.
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Catlettsburg City Council consulted with an engineer during an emergency meeting Monday night to address the partial collapse of an old building along Center Street.
Engineers say the cause was partly water damage, while the other part involved a root growing through the building.
Neighbors who lived next to the building heard the collapse as it happened.
The engineer told neighbors they could stay in their homes again Monday night, but the real danger comes from the exterior brick on the building next door. They say it may fall off and hit someone.
Council decided to meet next Monday when they will get more information to take another step.
Meanwhile, that section of the road will remain closed until further notice.
Boyd County 911 tells WSAZ.com part of an old building on Center Street fell, dumping bricks into the street.
It happened Sunday night. Nobody was hurt when the front of the building collapsed.
Center Street, between 25th and 26th Streets, will be closed Monday morning. Crews will work to remove the debris from the street.
We'll keep you updated at WSAZ.com on when Center Street will reopen.
