MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Cabell Huntington Hospital announced a new partnership Thursday with Pleasant Valley Hospital.
The goal is to provide better care to those in rural areas.
The joint management agreement is for the 101-bed acute care facility and 100-bed nursing and rehab center in Point Pleasant.
An open house was held Thursday at PVH to celebrate the agreement. Leadership from both hospitals, along with PVH staff took part in the ceremony.
The agreement will give PVH the ability to provide specialty healthcare to those who wouldn't have access to it otherwise.
"We think that by having us together, it will enhance the care in this region because we do as I said, we have very similar population of patients and we think that we can do it together better," Cabell Huntington Hospital CEO Brent Marsteller said.
PVH will keep its name, medical staff and employees.
Larry Unroe, interim CEO of PVH said the partnership is an exciting development for everyone involved.
"The partnership will allow us to increase the depth of our core services such as primary care, orthopedics and surgical services while developing specialty care such as pulmonology and endicronology onsite at Pleasant Valley Hospital," Unroe said.
PVH is currently looking for a full-time CEO who will also serve as a member of the CHH executive team.
CHH will provide assistance with physician recruitment and management for PVH.
