WAYNE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman from Ceredo, indicted for the murder of her boyfriend, has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge just days before her trial.
22-year-old Sara Worstell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter during a hearing Thursday in Wayne County Circuit Court.
In November 2012, Worstell was indicted for the death of 22-year-old Michael Meachem.
Ceredo Police were called to an apartment complex along Greenwood Drive in the early morning hours of November 27, 2011 where they found Meachem on the floor, unresponsive. He was taken to a Huntington hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Wayne County Prosecutor Thomas Plymale told WSAZ.com that the autopsy showed that Meachem died of positional asphyxiation.
Plymale said Worstell told investigators that Meachem was on his knees and she was behind him and had him in a choke hold. Plymale also said Meachem was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Worstell will be sentenced March 21.
