Charleston Bouncer Continues to Recover from Multiple Gunshot Wounds

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A well known Charleston bouncer is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds, and the community is rallying behind him.

Jimmy Beasley has been a bouncer in downtown Charleston for several years, but he nearly died early Saturday morning after police say two men shot him 12 times.

Shaun Dearien and Ben Huffaker bounce alongside of Beasley. They were there the night he was shot.

"Somebody just screamed that they were poppin' shots in the air, so we started clearing the girls out. But then somebody just started screaming Jimmy's name, and that's when we all just ran outside," Dearien said.

The two men accused of shooting him had just been thrown out of The Cellar bar by Beasley. But instead of going home, Beasley's wife Donna believes they returned for some payback -- something she can't understand.

"To take the man that I love, the father that these kids love, the son that this mother loves, the brother that the sister loves, and the bouncer that everybody loves away for getting kicked out of a bar -- I can't wrap my head around it still," Donna said.

However, she says the overwhelming amount of love and support people have shown their family has been astounding.

Donna Beasley said Jimmy is doing amazingly well, considering his condition, and that he can now wiggle his hands and toes completely on his own.
