CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The city of Charleston is a step closer to upgrading its storm sewer system.
On Monday night, City Council approved a project that will digitally map all of the city's storm drains.
Currently, the city only has paper maps for most of the city. Some parts are completely undocumented.
City workers say the new mapping project will give them a better idea of the system and make the whole process more effective.
The next phase of the project includes analyzing the storm sewer system and making any necessary upgrades.
