CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) --Thousands of colorful runners will take Charleston by storm Saturday morning, meaning drivers can expect detours.
Officers with the Charleston Police Department tell WSAZ.com Kanawha Boulevard from Magic Island to Greenbrier Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Nearly half of the 4,700 people registered Friday for the Color Vibe 5K event picked up their gear from the Civic Center.
Colored corn syrup powder will be thrown on runners during the event. Participants like Lauren Kelly tell WSAZ.com Saturday’s race will be memorable.
“We're going to get up tomorrow morning and have a ball,” Kelly said.
The race travels to different cities. Organizers tell WSAZ.com they have partnered with local charities, so part of Saturday’s proceeds goes toward good causes.
