Columbus Residents Arrested for Drugs During Portsmouth Traffic Stop

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Four people from Columbus face drug charges after being arrested by members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force.

The arrests were made during a traffic stop Monday afternoon in the 1900 block of 23rd Street in Portsmouth.

During a search of the vehicle officers say they seized approximately 47.9 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 7.2 grams of tar heroin, and almost $400 cash. Investigators say the drugs have a street value of approximately $6,000.

Officers arrested Orlando C. Smith, 28, of Columbus, Vernita S. Williams, 28, of Columbus, Thomas Smith, 26, of Columbus, and Ronald E. Fields, 21, of Columbus.

All four are charged with trafficking and possession of cocaine and heroin.

The four are currently in the Scioto County Jail.
