MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- A Silver Airways pilot headed for the North Central West Virginia Airport in Bridgeport mistakenly landed his Saab 340 at a tiny airport in Fairmont. But officials say no one was injured.
Frankman Field manager Jake Wilburn says it was obviously a mistake. The No. 5 runway at Fairmont is just under 3,200 feet long and 75 feet wide -- too small for the plane.
The landing occurred late Tuesday night during the Florida-based airline's first week of service to Bridgeport.
Wilburn says the incident is under investigation, and he couldn't comment further Wednesday.
A Silver Airways spokesman said a statement will be issued soon.
A message left for the Federal Aviation Administration wasn't immediately returned.
Silver also serves the Morgantown Municipal Airport with flights to Dulles, Va.
