LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A former teacher will spend several years behind bars after pleading guilty to sending nude photos of himself to a high school student.

Matthew Hall was sentenced Friday to four years in the Lewis County Detention Center. Hall had worked as a teacher at Laurel Elementary School, but resigned after being charged.

Police arrested him in April 2011 after a parent complained he had sent nude pictures to their 15-year-old daughter.

Police say they found evidence after searching Hall's computers, hard drives and cell phone.

Nick Adams with Lewis County Schools tells WSAZ.com that Matthew Hall, a teacher at Laurel Elementary School, put in his letter of resignation on Tuesday morning.

Hall was arrested Monday on a felony charge of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor and a misdemeanor charge of distribution of obscene matter to a minor.

Hall is being held without bail at the Lewis County Detention Center.

According to a news release from the Lewis County Sheriff, they received a complaint from the parents of a 15-year-old girl Monday afternoon. The parents told deputies their daughter received two text messages containing nude pictures from Matthew Hall.

Hall, 30, is teacher at Laurel Elementary School in Vanceburg. According to the release, the teen was a student of Hall's and is now in high school.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Hall's home in Garrison and seized computers, flash drives, external hard drives, and an iPhone, which was believed to be the phone from where he sent the images.

Hall was arrested and charged with prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor, which is a felony. He is also charged with distribution of obscene matter to a minor, which is a misdemeanor.

Hall is being held without bail at the Lewis County Detention Center.
