5PM: Wife of Gallia County Murder Victim Sets the Record Straight about "Girlfriend"
UPDATE 2/23/12 @ 5:45 p.m.
GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Today a widow is mourning a loss while dispelling rumors.
Thomas Marr was stabbed to death Wednesday, leaving loved ones, neighbors and police searching for answers.
Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning said 29-year-old Thomas Marr had been living at a house along Route 7 in Kanauga with his girlfriend.
However, his wife is wanting to set the record straight about her marriage and her man.
“Oh, I was furious,” said Lydia Marr.
Lydia is not happy about reports that her husband, Thomas, was staying with a girlfriend when he was killed at her home in Gallia County. Lydia said he was simply staying with this woman while she stayed with her mother until they could find a place of their own.
“We weren't separated like everybody's saying. We were not separated," Lydia said. "We were seeing each other every other day. We were on the phone 4-5 times a day. I mean we talked constantly.”
But, Thomas's own Facebook page lists his status as Separated.
“The girl was a family friend and she's been a friend for a long time," Lydia said. "I show her no disrespect and I don't feel like it was her fault that it was being reported that she was his girlfriend."
“As it was explained to us, it was a girlfriend/boyfriend type of situation and obviously we have no one else to talk to other than the girl who was living there,” Chief Dick Grau, Gallia County Sheriff’s Department said.
Gallia County sheriff's deputies responded to a 911call Wednesday morning at this home in Kanauga. They found Thomas dead on the family room floor with a stab wound to his chest. Chief Deputy Dick Grau said he wasn't alone. That female friend was there with him.
“She admits she was home, but didn't see or hear anything," Chief Grau said. "What we believe is that she could have been in bed--possibly asleep. We're still trying to put all of that together.”
As for Lydia, she's holding on to the good memories, while also trying to make sense of it all.
“I probably miss his spirit the most and the way he loved everyone. He was a good dad,” Lydia said.
Lydia told WSAZ.com that Thomas got into to arguments with others but she didn't think they were so series it would make someone want to harm him.
The couple had three children together ages 4, 8 and 10. Police are still tracking down leads. They said the home was the source of frequent calls for drug activity.
Investigators ask anyone who may have information, no matter how small it may seem, to call the Gallia County Sheriff's Tipline at 740-446-6555.

Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning says 29-year-old Thomas Marr had been living at a house along Route 7 in Kanauga with his girlfriend.
The girlfriend's uncle told deputies he arrived at the home a little before noon Wednesday and found Marr acting distressed with what appeared to be a stab wound to his body.
The uncle called 911, but when EMS arrived, Marr was dead.
"It's a little too close to home,” Jaime Dillon, who lives in the house directly across the street, said. “It's actually nerve-racking."
Dillon says Wednesday’s events don’t come as a surprise.
"It doesn't come as a big shock that something over there would happen,” she said. “Sometimes when the traffic's low you can hear arguments, and there's a lot of traffic that goes in and out of there."
After getting a search warrant, the Sheriff's Department checked out the home and collected evidence. They’re interviewing Marr's girlfriend, who was home at the time, and her uncle to figure out exactly what they saw and what their level of involvement was.
"That's what we're still checking with, trying to obtain statements from them to find out if they witnessed anything or participated," Browning said.
Marr's body was taken for an autopsy report to determine an exact cause of death.
