UPDATE 11/8/13 @ 11:40 p.m.
JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va (WSAZ) -- Route 21 in Ripley, West Virginia will be restricted Sunday as crews clean up a fuel spill that took place Friday afternoon.
The spill shut down Route 21 for three hours Friday afternoon.
Upwards of 150 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled after a semi-truck split open it's gas tank on a concrete barrier.
While crews were able to get the above-ground contaminates cleaned up, the extensive work will take place Sunday.
"They'll have to bring in heavy equipment and actually dig up the landscape and it will be hauled off for contaminated waste," said Ripley Fire Chief Richard Gobble II.
If you will be driving on Route 21 Sunday, please allow extra time for your travel.
