ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- When you think of charity, you may think of days like Christmas and Thanksgiving, but folks in Ashland say there's no reason Super Sunday can't be on that same level.
Ashland City Commissioner Marty Gute was a part of Lexington's “Souper Bowl” event last year, a party geared for the homeless and disadvantaged. Gute says he was so impressed with the event, he wanted to bring it to Ashland.
Churches, businesses and community organizations donated clothes and nonperishable food items for folks to pick up at the Ashland bus depot, and the party had a buffet spread organizers say could outmatch any other Super Bowl party around.
Folks who attended took in the Giants’ dramatic win over the Patriots on a big-screen TV.
Organizers say they're hoping to make the party an annual event.
