ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) - A northeastern Kentucky doctor whose license expired earlier this year has been charged with practicing medicine without a license.
The Associated Press reports that Kentucky State Police arrested 56-year-old Jennifer G. Collins on a complaint from the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. Under Kentucky law, practicing medicine without a license is a Class D felony that carries a prison sentence of one to five years.
Boyd Commonwealth's Attorney David Justice says Collins failed to renew the license, even after being warned she needed to do so by the medical licensure board. Collins is a family practitioner with 23 years of experience and was released from custody on the condition she cease seeing patients until she resolves her licensing issues.
