EAST BANK, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A fight inside a vehicle caused the driver to swerve and hit a natural gas line Friday evening.

It sent natural gas shooting into the air.

This happened just after 5 p.m. Friday on Third Avenue in East Bank.

Neighbors say there was a strong odor of natural gas leaking. Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies tell WSAZ.com that crews shut off the supply immediately and got rid of any risk. It is now considered safe.

According to deputies Kathy Ballard was driving down Third Avenue when she started fighting with her front-seat passenger, Donnie Ballard.

When the fight got physical, she hit the accelerator and swerved and hit the line.

Both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
