BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Thanks to a tip, a man from Detroit has been busted for bringing drugs into Ashland on a Greyhound Bus, according to the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release, members of the Drug Task Force received information from an informant that Julius V. Ready, 18, was transporting heroin and cocaine in a scented candle.

Members of the task force were waiting on Ready when he got to the Ashland Greyhound Bus Station.

The Sheriff’s Office says Ready gave deputies permission to search his duffel bag.

Inside the bag, deputies said they found a scented candle with a crack in the wax and no wick.

According to the release, Ready told deputies the candle was a housewarming gift he was taking to Virginia.

Deputies said when they broke open the candle’s glass container to get the wax out, they found a sock inside the wax. They said the sock was filled with baggies of heroin and cocaine. About 13 grams of heroin were in the baggies, and three grams of cocaine.

Ready is charged with trafficking heroin and cocaine.

He is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
