MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three suspected drug dealers are behind bars following a major raid Friday night.
Williamson's Police Chief C.D. Rockel tells WSAZ.com he believes two Mingo County communities will sleep better knowing they're off the streets.
Search warrants were issued for three homes on Friday. A task force raid by the Williamson, Delbarton, Matewan and Gilbert Police Departments along with Mingo County Sheriff's Department netted three arrests.
John Bland, 51, of Red Jacket; his son, Nicholas Bland, 27, of North Matewan; and Megan Berger, 35, of North Matewan were all charged for drug crimes.
Investigators also confiscated eight pounds of marijuana, dozens of hydrocodone pills, firearms and approximately $3,000. in cash.
"It was a long night," Chief C.D. Rockel said. "We were out, in force, with 22 officers. "
Chief Rockel credits Sheriff-elect Eugene Crum with helping to spear-head the investigation by the task force.
"We're seeing terrific cooperation by the different agencies and by the general public, trying to rid the streets of drugs, " Rockel said. "Since August, we've arrested 29 suspected drug dealers."
