Drug Trafficking Arrest Brings the Unexpected

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police got more than they bargained for while making a drug trafficking arrest Wednesday night in the 2400 block of 4th Avenue.

The warrant was for a suspect in at a house in the East Huntington neighborhood.

Police from Huntington and the Drug Task Force made the arrest and detained three others for questioning. Officers also told us dogs in the house became a safety issue.

"The S.W.A.T. team was utilized to make entry because of the anticipated threat from animals and possible other threats," Huntington Police Sgt. Darrell Booth said. "As a result, a couple of animals had to be put down through the course of the entry. It's under investigation."

Booth said the house will be thoroughly searched, and there could be more arrests made.
