NEW INFO: Arrest Made in Middleport Meth Case

MIDDLEPORT, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A two-month meth investigation ended with a raid and an arrest.

Middleport Police searched an apartment in the 100-block of North 2nd Avenue Wednesday.

At the home, officers found precursors to manufacture meth, including Pseudoephedrine. Heroin, prescription pills, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were found in the apartment.

Middleport Police say Richard A. Hill Jr., 42, lives in the home. He was not home at the time of the search, but they were able to track him down about two hours later.

Hill was taken into custody after Middleport Police say he led them on a foot chase.

Hill is being held in the Middleport Regional Jail and charged with illegal manufacturing of meth and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals used to manufacture drugs.

More charges are pending.

The Meigs County Sheriff's Office and Middleport Fire Department assisted in the investigation.

MIDDLEPORT, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Two people are considered suspects in a case where meth-making materials, heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found Wednesday evening in an apartment along North 2nd Avenue, Middleport Police say.

A section of the roadway was closed until about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday as HazMat crews cleaned up the scene.

The names of the suspects have not been released, and police were determining the quantity of drugs seized from the apartment. The drugs were found after officers executed a search warrant.
