UPDATE: Fire Destroys House in East Bank

UPDATE 5/12/13 @ 8 a.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An early morning fire destroyed a house in East Bank.

The fire broke out just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home at 137 Walnut Drive.

The homeowner, William Russell, says the smoke alarms woke him up and that's when he saw smoke in the back of the house. Rusell's wife and her sister were also in the home at the time of the fire.

Russell says he also heard a boom about the same time his neighbors began knocking on the door to get them out of the house.

Firefighters are still looking for the cause of the fire.

No one was hurt.

EAST BANK, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Kanawha County.

The call came in about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 100-block of Walnut Street in East Bank.

Dispatchers say firefighters could see flames shooting out of the home when they arrived. No one was hurt.
