Early Thursday Morning Fire Damages Home in Kenova

KENOVA, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An early morning fire has done heavy damage to a home in Kenova.

Dispatchers say the fire started about 4:00 a.m. at a house in the 1800 block of Poplar Street.

Firefighters say fire was shooting through the roof when they arrived on the scene.

The fire was contained to the second floor of the house. Firefighters were quickly able to bring it under control. The first floor had significant water and smoke damage.

Kenova Fire Chief Tim Bias tells WSAZ.com that no one was home when the fire started, and that firefighters were having trouble locating the homeowner.

Chief Bias says the fire does not appear to be suspicious. Right now he does not have a cause to start.
