MATEWAN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A father has been arrested and charged with the death of his 7-week-old baby.
Albert Matthew Moore, 21, of Warm Hollow in Matewan, was arrested Friday.
According to the criminal complaint, Moore admitted that Monday, he slept in the same bed as his daughter, 7-week-old Aubrey Moore.
Investigators say Moore admitted that he had smoked marijuana, smoked crack cocaine, and took a Roxicodone pill two days before the incident happened, and hadn't slept since he took the drugs.
Moore told investigators that when he woke up, he found the little girl completely covered with a large comforter. He said she was unresponsive.
Aubrey was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Mingo County Sheriff's Office and Matewan Police Department investigated the case.
Moore is charged with child neglect resulting in death.
Moore was arraigned Friday on the charge. His bond was set at $50,000 cash.
Patsy Carter lives in the apartment next to where Moore lives.
"When I found out that the baby had passed, it bothered me so bad I could not sleep all night," she said.
