ORIGINAL STORY
CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A father is behind bars, accused of abusing his 7-week-old twin daughters.

West Virginia State Police say Richard Solomon Osborne, 29, of Wallback, in Clay County, is charged with child abuse.

Troopers say Tuesday, they received a call of suspected child abuse involving the little girls from a social worker at a Charleston hospital.

According to the criminal complaint, one of the little girls had several brain hemorrhages and broken ribs. The other little girl had a hematoma on the side of her head, along with several broken bones, including both arms and legs, as well as her ribs.

A doctor told State Police that the injuries were consistent with child abuse.

The complaint states that on Monday night, Osborne put one of the infants down for the night and she cried continuously for two and a half hours.

He told investigators around 11:30 p.m., he violently grabbed her out of her rocker by her right arm and squeezed her against his chest until she stopped crying. He said he put her back in the rocker for the night. Osborne said when he woke up the next morning, the little girl had a deformity on her right upper arm, so he made arrangements to take her to the doctor.

The other little girl was staying with a family member that night.

According to the criminal complaint, this isn't the first time Osborne acted in a violent manner. He told investigators that just a week before, he squeezed both little girls the same way until they stopped crying.

Osborne was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Clay County Magistrate Court. His bond was set at $40,000. He is being held in the Central Regional Jail.
