TRENTON, Ohio (AP) -- Police say a father and his 4-year-old son were killed after a train struck them while they crossed railroad tracks in southwestern Ohio.
Trenton Police Chief Timothy Traud says Robert S. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon and his son, Robert C. Brown, was pronounced dead on arrival at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
The Associated Press reports the 33-year-old father was carrying a stroller with his son across the tracks when they were struck.
Police say father and son were thrown between 50 and 60 feet.
A CSX spokesman said the freight train, which was headed to Cincinnati from Lima, had three locomotives and 55 cars.
