Fayette County Woman Defends Home Against Burglary

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) --An elderly Fayette County woman opened fire on a burglar who broke into her home and punched her in the face.

Deputies say it happened early Thursday in the Dothan area of Fayette County.

The woman told police after her burglar alarm went off she grabbed her gun.

She said she found a man standing by her back door.

The man then punched her and she started shooting.

As far as police know, the suspect wasn't hit but did get away.

The incident is still under investigation.
