HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A fire at Special Metals was quickly brought under control Tuesday evening by Huntington firefighters.
The blaze started inside the strip mill building near a furnace. No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire was unknown Tuesday night.
The fire was reported about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
As of nearly 7:30 p.m., crews remained at the scene cooling bearings inside the building.
Firefighters couldn’t use water to fight the fire because water reacts with hydrogen in the furnace. Instead they used dry chemicals to put out the blaze.
