WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A heating problem is believed to have caused a fire that left a family homeless Tuesday afternoon in Lavalette.
It happened along Newman Road.
A family member tells WSAZ.com they recently had heating problems and think that may have caused of the fire.
One young man was inside when the house when the fire started. The family is grateful he got out OK. Two pets, however, were not so fortunate.
"We lost a couple animals, and my niece lost all her books and stuff for nursing school,” family member Rene Spence said. “But everyone's out safe. All this stuff's replaceable. We can fix it.”
Spence told us she hopes everyone will check their heaters and electrical cords -- to make sure they're all safe.
