UPDATE 1/5/13 @ 5:49 p.m.
PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The massive plume of smoke could be seen for miles after a building caught fire at the Rock Branch Industrial Park Saturday.

For people like Traci Hancock and Woodrow Ball, they couldn’t help but follow the smoky trail.

"Nosey like I am I had to drive over here and see what was going on," said Hancock. "It's pretty crazy seeing it."

"I thought one of the neighbors had a big brush fire going," said Ball.

Just after noon Saturday, one of Frontier’s buildings in the Rock Branch Industrial Park in Putnam County burst into flames.

"There was a lot of heavy black smoke showing, there was a lot of flames showing," said Becky West, Public Information Officer for the Poca Fire Department.

At least eight Frontier vehicles were damaged but firefighters say it could have been much worse.

"We do know that there were some nitrous and some propane tanks here -- we did not know where they were at, fortunately they were at the far end as about as far away from the flames as it could get," said West.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire and firefighters had to cut the locks to get into the building to battle the flames.

Frontier's building was used for training but hasn’t been used for about a month.

"Well, I feel for them guys back there fighting the fire because they're in the smoke themselves and that's not healthy, it's not healthy at all," said Ball.

Now, the state fire marshal is investigating to figure out how the fire started.
