KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Flu cases in Kanawha County are on the rise.
Kanawha County Health Department Director Rahul Gupta says the number of confirmed cases in the county is increasing.
Peak flu season is late January and early February.
Gupta says neighboring states are already seeing widespread flu activity, so if you haven't received a flu shot, now is the time to get one.
The health department has give 14,000 flu shots so far this season.
Gupta says the predominant strain of the flu this year has been H1N1, also commonly known as Swine Flu.
The last time there was an outbreak of that strain was in 2009.
