FoodFair Opening Store in Ceredo
CEREDO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- After nine years, the town of Ceredo is getting back a grocery store.
Mayor Otis Adkins, confirms to WSAZ.com that locally owned FoodFair has agreed to expand into the Ceredo Plaza.
"This has been a long time coming," Adkins said. "I first contacted the Forth Family three-and-a-half years ago. This is terrific news for the town and the people who live nearby."
"When you resurrect a building that's been down nine years, you can run into all kinds of unknowns," says Tim Forth, President of Foodfair. "We've got a target date of May of this year, but we'll have to see."
The company will have a long-term lease for the property, owned by Chatham Properties, which was formerly home to the old Big Bear Store.
The store hopes to employ 40 workers.
Forth will be given a ceremonial "key to the city" at Monday's city council meeting. The public is invited to attend the 7:30 meeting..
