CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A former DHHR case worker in Logan County has pleaded guilty to fraud.
Shannon Collins, 41, of Logan entered the guilty plea Monday in U.S. District Court in Charleston.
Prosecutors said that in 2009, Collins, also known as Shannon Varney, used the Social Security numbers of two deceased people to claim their benefits.
Collins also obtained Mountain State Cards (food stamps), which she used from April to December of 2009. The total combined loss was more than $58,000.
Collins faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine up to $500,000 when she is sentenced in October.
