CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A former Carter County Sheriff's deputy was arrested Friday after he allegedly received sexual favors in exchange for not serving an arrest warrant, according to a Kentucky State Police news release.

Matthew Morrison, 38, of Grayson, Ky., is charged with first-degree sodomy, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and official misconduct. He was taken to the Carter County Detention Center.

Morrison had been terminated from the Carter County Sheriff’s Department prior to the investigation.

On Feb. 14, KSP troopers received a report alleging Morrison had neglected to serve an arrest warrant in exchange for sexual favors. An investigation began, and it was determined additional criminal acts had also been conducted by Morrison while acting in his official capacity as a deputy.

During the course of the investigation, evidence backed up the original allegation in which Morrison neglected to serve an arrest warrant and received sexual favors. It also was revealed Morrison had engaged in several illegal transactions involving controlled substances (pills).
