UPDATE: Four Dead in Eastern Ky. Shooting

JENKINS, Ky. (AP) - A coroner says a man fatally shot three people whom he suspected of theft and then turned the gun on himself.

Authorities found the four bodies early Friday morning in two different homes about a mile apart in the tiny community of Jenkins on the Kentucky-Virginia border.

Letcher County Coroner Marty Baker says 58-year-old Timothy Shelby used a glock pistol. Killed were 35-year-old Jennifer Walters, 33-year-old Joshua Wyatt and 31-year-old Amy Ratliff.

Baker says Shelby suspected the trio of stealing from him. Shelby and Walters lived together in a home on Oak Street, where Walters' body was found. Wyatt and Ratliff's bodies were found in a home on Ginseng Drive.

Police were called after two juveniles found a body around 2 a.m. on Friday morning.

WHITESBURG, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky coroner says four people are dead in an apparent triple murder-suicide near the Kentucky-Virginia border.

Letcher County Coroner Marty Brown told The Associated Press that two men and two women were killed either late Thursday night or early Friday morning and all died of gunshot wounds. Baker says none of the four were married or related to each other, but were acquaintances.

Baker was notifying family members Friday morning and said identifications were not immediately available.

The bodies were being sent for autopsies.

A Kentucky State Police detective did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

JENKINS, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Four people were found dead at two separate locations in Letcher County.

WSAZ's sister station, WYMT, reports the shooting happened at 2 a.m. Friday.

Kentucky State Police told them that two juveniles found a body at a house on Ginseng Road in Jenkins.

Once there, troopers and deputies found two more people dead inside the home.

While investigating, word was received of a second potential crime scene.

Another body was found at that location.

State Police aren't releasing any other information at this time.
