Gallia County Man Killed While Working Along NY Road; Mason County Man Hurt

WESTFIELD, N.Y. (WSAZ & AP) -- A telecommunications worker from Gallia County, Ohio was been killed while on job in New York state.

New York State Police say 49-year-old Billy J. Johnson II of Crown City, Ohio was killed after being hit by car Wednesday afternoon. 26-year-old Nathaniel Bailey of Glenwood, W.Va. was injured in the same accident.

Troopers say the men, who work for Cincinnati-based CTS Telecommunications, were working outside their parked truck along a road near Westfield, N.Y. when they were hit a car that had drifted off the road.

Johnson died at the scene. Bailey was taken to a local hospital with internal injuries. No word on his condition.

Troopers say the truck was parked on the shoulder of the road, and the bucket on the truck was extended about one foot off the ground when the men were hit. The men were standing behind the bucket.
