KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The federal case against the man who authorities say went across state lines to pay a Kanawha County teenager for sex, is now headed to a grand jury.

Ernest Michael Roach, 36, of Racine, Ohio, is also charged in Meigs County, Ohio with with Ericka Brown's murder.

Brown is the teenager who was reported missing on August 10 from her home in Poca. Her body was later found on August 30 along a riverbank in Meigs County, Ohio.

Roach was scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court Thursday afternoon on the federal charge of traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Thursday morning, he waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
That means the federal case is now headed to the grand jury.

According to the federal criminal complaint, investigators say Brown met Roach more than once through Craigslist, after he responded to her ads that said she was "willing to do anything for money."
