UPDATE: Wurtland, Greenup Water Customers Asked to Conserve

GREENUP, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Customers in the Greenup Water District are being asked to conserve water.

According to 911, the water tanks are extremely low and the water that is available is needed for fire protection.

They say the problem is due to water line breaks.

As a result, a boil water advisory has also been issued for the entire Greenup water system

In Greenup, bulk water is available at the Greenup Fire Department. They say this water is not for consumption, and residents must have their own containers.

Greenup County Schools dismissed at 1 p.m. Thursday due to the water issue.

Customers in the Wurtland Water Dsitrict are also asked to conserve water. Bottled water is available at the fire station until 7:30 p.m. Bring an old water bill to show that you are a customer.
