HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The inclement weather was not going to hold up the groundbreaking for the news $50 million Arthur Weisberg Family Applied Engineering Complex at Marshall University.

The ceremonial groundbreaking was moved inside to the Joan C Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center.

Construction on the 145,000 square-foot, 480-foot long engineering complex is expected to take 28 months to complete with the facility opening in February 2015. It will be located in the 2000-block of 3rd Avenue.

It will house the College of Technology and Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and other technical sciences and will include classrooms, laboratories and offices.

The building is named for Arthur Weisberg, president of Arthur’s Enterprises and founder of State Electric Supply Company. Arthur’s Enterprises made a large gift pledge to the Marshall University Foundation to help pay for the complex.
