KANAWHA COUNTY, W. Va. (WSAZ)-- Drivers in Kanawha County faced unexpected road detours Saturday as several roads were blocked because of high water.

The high water and flooding issues were caused by heavy rains Friday.

Firefighters had to rescue a man after his truck was submerged in water on Thorofare Road in Clendenin.

Meanwhile on Smith Creek Road near Tornado, Robert Pauley was forced to take a different route after seeing high water on his trip to an estate sale.

“I just don't want to get stranded in the water, just don't want to ruin the day,” Pauley said.

Max Miller of Smith Creek Road tells WSAZ.com the area floods easily.

“It’s just a nuisance,” Miller said.
