UPDATE 12/2/13 @ 9:50 p.m.
GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Investigators are looking into what led to a hunter's death in Gallia County Monday morning.

Sheriff Joe Browning told WSAZ.com the call came in just before 9 a.m., telling dispatchers a hunter had been found injured in a tree stand

Browning says when deputies arrived on the scene they found Larry Bradley, 45, of Bidwell, Ohio dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Bradley was hunting about 1 mile into the woods off Thaxton Road in Morgan Township.

Investigators say that family members told them Bradley left the house to go hunting early Monday morning.

“Family members know what time he left the home to go hunting. They're able to establish a timeline based on that, when they last heard from him,” Browning said.

Now, investigators are speaking with those family members, who told WSAZ.com on Monday night they weren’t ready to talk yet.

Investigators are also speaking with hunters who may have been nearby when this happened.

“You have firearms that are involved. The first thought would be that it would be something accidental,” Browning said. “We're just going to have to look into the situation and try to determine, along with the Division of Wildlife, the best that we can, try to put something back together of what happened to him.”

Investigators are not yet releasing where Bradley was shot.

“It's a rural community, a lot of close-knit families right in through there,” Browning said. “Most everybody knows everyone that's lived there for awhile. [It’s] just really bad for the families involved and for the victim's family.”

“Every deer gun season, we really hope that we don't have these issues come out,” Browning said. “We try to stress safety.”

Monday was the first day of deer gun season in Ohio.
