HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A Huntington man who illegally sold prescription painkillers and several firearms has been sentenced to three and a half years in a federal prison, according to U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Kenneth Lee Sergent, 41, of Huntington was sentenced Monday during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Huntington.
In May, Sergent pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and distribution of oxycodone.
Federal prosecutors say that in May 2011, Sergent possessed and sold a .22-caliber gun for $50 to a confidential informant working in cooperation with the Huntington Police Department. The transaction took place at Sergent’s Huntington residence. Sergent also sold the confidential informant two 30-milligram oxycodone pills in exchange for $60.
Additionally, Sergent sold firearms to a confidential informant in June 2011, and August, 2011. The guns were .38-caliber revolvers.
Sergent was arrested by police in March 2012.
In November 1990, Sergent was convicted of grand larceny in Cabell County. As a result, he did not have the right possess a firearm.

Prosecutors say that on May 18, 2011, Sergent sold a .22 caliber revolver to a confidential informant working in cooperation with the Huntington Police Department in exchange for $50. Sergent also sold the confidential informant two oxycodone pills in exchange for $60.
Sergent also illegally sold firearms to a confidential informant on June 5, 2011 and on August 21, 2011. The two guns, both .38 caliber revolvers, were sold by Sergent for $300 and $125, respectively.
Huntington Police arrested Sergent on March 21, 2012.
In November 1990, Sergent was convicted of grand larceny in Circuit Court of Cabell County, W.Va.
Sergent faces up to 10 years in prison on the gun charge, up to 20 years in prison on the oxycodone charge and a $1,250,000 fine when he is sentenced in August.
